A league source has informed The Stride Report that the Horizon League is delaying the start of competition for fall sports until October 1st. The conference also made an official announcement on the postponement of fall sports at 3:00 PM EST.
In their announcement, the conference stated that the rescheduling of "non-conference contests impacted by the postponed start of the fall seasons will be determined by each school."
Earlier today, the West Coast Conference (WCC) announced that they were delaying the start of fall sports until September 24th. At the moment, The Stride Report is unaware of any conference at the Division One level that has delayed the start of fall competition as late as the Horizon League has.
The Horizon League joins the WCC and the BIG East as conferences that have made announcements regarding the changing status of their fall sports this year.
