The Mountain West Conference has officially announced that they are "postponing" fall sports due to ongoing concerns surrounding the Coronavirus. The Mountain West joins the Mid-American Conference as FBS conferences that are not competing in fall sports this year.
The conferenced noted that they will "explore the feasibility of rescheduling fall sports competition, including the possibility of those sports competing in the spring".
The decision also comes on the heels of initial reports and major speculation that the BIG 10 and other Power Five conferences may also be postponing fall sports for the rest of the year.
That news is not yet official nor confirmed.
The Mountain West is home to many of the country's top distance programs such as New Mexico, Boise State, Air Force, Utah State and Colorado State. In the past two years, between both men and women, the Mountain West has conference has produced 10 national qualifying squads.
Earlier in the year, conferences such as the Ivy League and Patriot League opted to cancel fall sports outright.
