Earlier today, Colorado's Sage Hurta announced via Instagram that she has sustained a tibial stress fracture and will not run this indoor track season. The injury, according to Hurta, is something that the Buffalo veteran has been battling for the past three months.
Hurta is coming off of a very respectable cross country season where she finished 38th at the NCAA XC Championships to become an All-American. However, her real talent lies on the track. The Buffalo senior ran unattached last winter and spring, but still recorded a handful of jaw-dropping marks, including a 2:00.99 800 meter time as well as a mark of 4:09 for the 1500 meters.
Hurta was considered to be a potential national title favorite in the 800, mile, and/or DMR this winter. Unfortunately, she will be sidelined for the next couple of months.
