Earlier today, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced that they will be postponing the start of competition for cross country, volleyball and soccer through "at least" August 31st. The postponement includes "all exhibition and non-conference" competition. It should be noted that most cross country meets in the NCAA do not take place before the month of September.
The SEC's decision mirrors a similar announcement made by the ACC on July 9th which stated that "fall Olympic Sports" were being delayed by the conference until September 1st.
According to the SEC, the postponement will "provide additional time to prepare for the safe return of competition on an adjusted timeline".
Yesterday, the Patriot League announced that they were cancelling fall sports this year. Last week, the Ivy League cancelled all fall sports for the year while the BIG 10 and PAC-12 announced that they were moving to "conference-only" schedules (although cross country was not mentioned in the PAC-12's announcement).
