Our Plan Moving Forward

To say that it has been a crazy few months would be an understatement, but you already know that. Most of our rankings are finished while other portions are being wrapped up before we dive into the return of (some) cross country competition.

We've had a lot of questions about a few pieces of content, so we wanted to provide an update on a couple of things regarding the next couple of months...

D2 + D3 Team Rankings

These will be coming very soon, we promise! We're aiming to start publishing these within the next week. Admittedly, our groups of D2 and D3 writers are smaller, so we'll only be listing our Top 10 teams (just like we did last year on the D2 side). The level of detail will not be quite as intense as what you saw with our Division One rankings, but don't worry, there will still be plenty of analysis and research that goes into these.

We know that by the time we publish these rankings, some teams will have already had a race or two under their belts this season. It's not entirely ideal, but we don't see those results dramatically altering our opinion of our "If Everything Was Normal" preseason rankings.

Recruit Rankings

The uncertainty with the 2020 cross country season forced us to delay our individual and team rankings until we had greater clarity. This left us with little to no time for our recruit rankings. As a result, we will be pushing our recruit rankings to a later point in time.

We might opt to post them later this year / during the winter months, but truthfully, we don't know when (or if) that will happen. Most of our writers would agree that recruit rankings are the hardest to construct and that they require the most time.

In-Season Coverage + Rankings

If there are results, we will talk about them. We like to think that the way we cover the sport wont be changing too much, even if there are fewer races and less teams to analyze.

As for rankings, we are truthfully unsure as to how we will approach that, but we are relatively confident that there will be some form of rankings for you to read and stay up-to-date on as we go through the fall months.

Transfers

The offseason is coming to an end, but be sure to take a look at our TRANSFERS page! If you noticed that a distance athlete was missing from our dataset, then send us an email letting us know (along with some form of verification that the move happened) and we'll update our page.
