On Monday, in an article for LetsRun, Jonathan Gault reported that TCU's indoor national meet qualifier over 800 meters, and the 2025 BIG 12 champion over 1000 meters, Tabitha Ngao, has been competing in the NCAA despite being provisionally suspended by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK).

According to the report, LetsRun received notice from Stanley Mwakio of ADAK stating that Ngao has a, "...mandatory provisional suspension [that] is still in effect until the determination of the matter is reached by the Sports Disputes Tribunal." In that same report, Gault also noted that Ngao's provisionally suspension pertains to, "whereabouts failures and she is understood to be appealing it."

Late last month, LetsRun's Jonathan Gault also reported that Tulane cross country All-American Caroline Jeptanui was competing in the NCAA despite being provisionally suspended by ADAK since September 2024.

At the completion of the women's 1000-meter prelims at the 2025 BIG 12 Indoor Championships, The Stride Report was informed by one conference source that Ngao had been listed on a provisional suspension document from ADAK which also held Caroline Jeptanui's name.

That same conference source, as well as a separate source at the BIG 12 Championships, noted that multiple coaches at the BIG 12 Indoor Championships were aware of rumors regarding Ngao's status. However, TSR has chosen not to publish the document in question after being unable to trace the direct source of the list at that time.

Ngao went on to compete in the 1000-meter finals at the BIG 12 Indoor Championships, a race that she won. The Horned Frog standout eventually positioned herself to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships over 800 meters.

However, despite initially being listed in the national meet entries, Ngao ultimately scratched from the meet. That late scratch allowed North Florida's Smilla Kolbe to qualify for the indoor national meet where she eventually earned 5th place All-American honors.

The Stride Report reached out to TCU Director of Track & Field, Khadevis Robinson, for further comment, but were left without a response.
