Following a recent announcement from the BIG 10, multiple media outlets are reporting that the PAC-12 will be postponing fall athletics due to ongoing concerns surrounding the Coronavirus. The conference will explore competitive opportunities in the spring of 2021 for the fall sports that are affected by this decision.
The news was first reported by Stadium's Brett McMurphy.
The decisions from both the BIG 10 and PAC-12 are hardly surprising as initial reports from late last week suggested that the two conferences would not be competing this fall.
Attention now turns to the SEC, ACC and BIG 12 -- three Power Five conferences that are facing mounting pressure to postpone fall sports this year following monumental decisions from the BIG 10 and PAC-12.
It should also be noted that if more than 50% of NCAA teams at the Division One level do not compete in fall sports this year, then the NCAA will cancel the 2020 National Championships. According to Flotrack, those numbers currently sit at approximately 44% for the men and 45% for the women...
