Today is a difficult day for NCAA student-athletes.
Earlier today, in an effort to mitigate the spread of the novel Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19), the NCAA announced that the Indoor National Championships across all three divisions would be canceled. All spring championships have also been canceled.
Our sincerest sympathies to all athletes who were impacted by today's decision, especially the seniors who are graduating at the end of this semester.
As far as next steps are concerned, The Stride Report is likely in the same position as everyone else: we don't know what those next steps are.
However, in the coming days, we will begin to publish updates and analysis regarding the latest news and developments. Based on the reasonable assumption that we will not be having any collegiate track and field competition of any kind this spring, TSR is still unsure what our long-term plan is for content creation. We may have to venture into other areas of coverage that are not related to collegiate athletics (or simply, whatever is not canceled).
Regardless, we will always find ways to put new articles on the site.
In the meantime, please hang tight as we attempt to revamp our article schedule. We are working as hard as we can with our limited time to bring you up-to-date coverage while still trying to mentally recover from a long week of writing and editing.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Stay happy, stay healthy, wash your hands.
Best,
Garrett Zatlin
